Chroniques de l’Autre Monde
What is it?
“Chroniques de l’Autre Monde” (“Chronicles of the Other World” in English) refers to the series of albums that gather every music I created to illustrate my book “Chronicles of Galadria”.
It is quite simply a “book soundtrack”! Therefore the albums should be considered as one and single entity: the musics intertwine to cover the story as a whole (to discover the chronological order of the pieces, check out this playlist).
These albums were born out of my frustration of not finding songs that perfectly matched the story I was writing: the only solution was then to create my own! (thus starting music composition as an activity in its own rights)
Why is the title “Chronicles of the Other World” and not “Chronicles of Galadria – Original Soundtrack” or something like that?
Quite simply because when the first album was released I was far from done with writing the book and I didn’t know I would one day publish it online. As such I didn’t want the name “Chronicles of Galadria” to be out there for anyone to see and use.(break]I picked “Chroniques de l’Autre Monde” because it had the poetic and mysterious touch from the book without revealing too much.
I actually had to change the name of one of the tracks when uploading it online because the original title spoiled a major event in the story. Can you guess which music it is?
NB: The following albums are available on Jamendo. You can freely listen, download or even use them for your projects as long as:
• My name is mentioned somewhere
• You do not modify the songs (although you can use only parts of them)
• You do not earn money with them

“Chroniques de l’Autre Monde” (2008)
My very first album.
Most of the tracks were created with Big Boss first and then reworked on Cubase SX3 (better virtual instruments mostly, a few parts more heavily modified here and there).
However my lack of knowledge at the time in sound techniques and music composition are obvious: average sound quality, music with simple structure, use of the same instruments…
Yet the album was quite successful and was an opportunity to introduce my work, which led some people to get in touch to work with me.
“Chroniques de l’Autre Monde II” (2009)
This time every music was composed with Cubase SX3 with brand new sound banks that I had picked on purpose.
The experience gained both in composition and sound engineering allowed me to create more advanced music structures, use a wider variety of instruments, gain in power and in the end to get an overall better sound quality.
This album had a huge success (with all due proportions), especially the song “Adieu”, often quoted as my best piece and with tens of thousands of views on Youtube.
“Chroniques de l’Autre Monde I” (2012)
Last album of the series (despite its name). The tracks (apart from one) are heavily reworked versions of the album “Chroniques de l’Autre Monde” from 2008.
I put in this project everything I had learned throughout the years so that the result would match my vision, with no compromise because of a lack of knowledge or tools.
After “Chroniques de l’Autre Monde II” it became obvious that there was a gap between the quality of my very first album and the second one, and I decided to solve this.
Yet it took 3 years to complete this album because of new priorities, ideas and projects: it was a tremendous amount of work and I was no longer sure I wanted to carry this out… But I chose to finish this before leaving music composition behind.
“Chroniques de l’Autre Monde I & II” are the main albums, featuring the final versions of my compositions (except the piece “L’Autre Monde” whose original version I find great), and “Chroniques de l’Autre Monde” is more like a memory.
Use of the music
“Chroniques de l’Autre Monde” were composed both to be enjoyed as they are, with nothing more than a good pair of speakers, and to be combined one day with the story they illustrate (maybe through an animation series?).
However they’ve also been used successfully in other projects:
• Combination of the book’s text with its soundtrack
• Concert “La Bataille” (Chroniques de l’Autre Monde I) by the Gävle Symphony Orchestra
• Fan-made Youtube videos: some pieces by themselves or as soundtracks, covers…
• Projects from professionals: video-game trailer, corporate videos, documentaries…
